MP 543
We are passing by MP 543 as we triple out of the Holly Springs yard. These mileposts are numbered from Chicago. Notice the fixed approach signal on the left side of the main. This approach signal is for the absolute signal entering the BNSF main at Holly Springs. You can see a small concrete foundation under the approach sign where a semaphore signal used to do this job. This semphore was here until the 1990's when Pioneer decided to move it to their corporate headquarters to put on display. Engineer Robert Riley.

Joe Marascalco General yea, on the Mississippi Central, its wait until you get on the ground, then put a handfull of ties and guage rods in! Cant say I blame them though, for the amount of traffic they have, we are lucky they are still operating at all. 6/1/2012 1:48:58 PM
